There’s something so special about a wedding day that feels completely connected to its surroundings, and Piper and Britian’s wedding at Ole Hanson Beach Club in San Clemente, California was exactly that.
With white stucco architecture, colorful Spanish-inspired tile, palm trees, ocean views, soft blue details, and an effortlessly coastal atmosphere, their day felt like the perfect Southern California wedding from beginning to end.
As an Orange County wedding photographer, Ole Hanson Beach Club is the kind of venue I love photographing because there are so many different textures, colors, and environments all within one property. Every part of Piper and Britian’s day felt visually connected while still giving us so much variety to work with.

Getting Ready at Ole Hanson Beach Club
Piper spent the morning getting ready surrounded by some of the people closest to her.
The getting-ready space was filled with soft natural light and warm neutral tones, which paired beautifully with her timeless wedding look. She wore a clean, structured white gown with a delicate lace-trimmed veil and scarf detail around the neckline — modern and elegant while still feeling perfect for a relaxed coastal wedding.
Some of my favorite images from the morning are the quieter moments: her family helping with the finishing touches, portraits near the window, and all of the little details that told the story of the day before everything officially began.
Her invitation suite carried soft blue tones throughout, while her white heels, rings, vow books, florals, and stationery looked incredible against Ole Hanson’s terracotta stairs and hand-painted tiles.
Those colorful tiles are one of my favorite details at this venue. They give wedding detail photographs so much personality without needing an overly styled setup.
An Emotional First Look
Piper and Britian chose to have a first look before their ceremony, and it ended up being one of the sweetest parts of the day.
Before seeing Britian, Piper also shared an emotional moment with her family. There is something incredibly meaningful about slowing the wedding day down enough to let those reactions happen naturally instead of rushing from one event to the next.
Then it was finally time for Piper and Britian to see each other.
Britian’s reaction said everything.
Their first look quickly turned into reading private vows together overlooking the Pacific, and it gave them space to actually be together before the ceremony began.
These are always some of my favorite moments to photograph because there is almost no need to direct them. The emotion, movement, tears, laughter, and little reactions happen naturally.
That is exactly the kind of wedding photography I love creating — images that feel beautiful and intentional while still letting the day unfold honestly.
Private Vows Overlooking the Ocean
Ole Hanson Beach Club has such an unmistakable San Clemente feeling.
White Spanish-style architecture sits against palm trees, tropical greenery, bright blue skies, and views of the Pacific Ocean. For Piper and Britian’s private vows, we stepped into one of the garden areas overlooking the coastline.
The setting was simple, which made the moment even better.
Piper’s long veil moved behind her while Britian wore a white dinner jacket with black trousers and a bow tie. The combination looked incredible against the greenery and ocean.
They read their vows, laughed, cried, and took a few moments to be completely present together.
Wedding days move quickly. Having a private first look or vow exchange can create a small pocket of time where everything suddenly feels quiet again.
And photographically, those moments tend to become some of the most meaningful images in the entire gallery.
Coastal Blue and White Wedding Inspiration
The design of Piper and Britian’s wedding complemented the venue beautifully.
Soft blues and whites appeared throughout the stationery, bridal party attire, vow books, and florals. Their arrangements incorporated white roses, pale blue hydrangeas, delicate blooms, eucalyptus, and loose greenery for an organic garden-inspired look.
Rather than competing with Ole Hanson Beach Club, the design enhanced what was already there.
The result felt coastal without becoming overly beach-themed — polished, romantic, timeless, and very Southern California.
Their wedding is such a good example of how to design around your venue. Instead of bringing in a completely separate aesthetic, they pulled inspiration from the ocean, architecture, tilework, and surrounding landscape.
Why I Love Photographing Weddings at Ole Hanson Beach Club
For couples dreaming about a wedding near the ocean, Ole Hanson Beach Club is one of the most recognizable wedding venues in San Clemente.
From a photography perspective, it offers so much variety.
You have the white Spanish-inspired architecture and blue-trimmed windows, terracotta floors and colorful tile, tropical landscaping, palm trees, open lawns, and ocean views all within the same wedding experience.
It means a gallery can move effortlessly between editorial portraits, documentary moments, architectural compositions, coastal scenery, and colorful detail photographs without ever feeling disconnected.
I especially love the way the white architecture reflects California sunlight. Even in the middle of the day, there are opportunities to create bright, clean imagery alongside deeper, more dramatic photographs in shaded areas.
And when you add in the ocean just beyond the property, it truly feels like a destination wedding without leaving Orange County.
Photographing Piper + Britian’s Wedding Day
What I loved most about Piper and Britian’s wedding was how much emotion existed alongside all of the beautiful details.
There were gorgeous shoes, thoughtfully designed stationery, blue-and-white florals, a timeless bridal look, and an incredible coastal venue.
But there were also tears during first looks, hugs with family, laughter with friends peeking through the windows, and quiet moments between Piper and Britian while they read their vows.
Those are the photographs that make a wedding gallery feel like more than simply a collection of pretty images.
My approach to weddings blends documentary wedding photography with an editorial eye, allowing the real moments to unfold while still creating photographs that feel polished, timeless, and intentional.
Piper and Britian’s wedding was the perfect example of why I love that balance so much.
